September is Vermont's River Cleanup Month
Watersheds United Vermont is partnering with Connecticut River Watershed Council's Source to Sea Cleanup and American Rivers National River Cleanup to coordinate the 2016 September Vermont River Cleanup month. Many of Vermont's watershed groups and other community organizations organize events to clean up Vermont's rivers, streams and lakes. Learn about your local watershed group. Your participation will help make VT River Cleanup Month a success! Whether you're organizing or volunteering at a cleanup, don't forget to use #vtrivercleanup in social media posts.

History of Vermont River Cleanup Month
For many years local watershed groups and others in the community have been organizing river clean ups across Vermont to keep Vermont's waters clean. In 2014, thanks to the hard work of many partners including Vermont Outdoor Guides Association, Lewis Creek Association, Friends of the Winooski River, Northern Forest Canoe Trail, and Franklin Watershed Committee and Senate sponsor, John Rodgers, Vermont's legislature declared September to be Vermont's River Cleanup Month. In 2015, Watersheds United Vermont helped to coordinate this effort by providing resources to organizers and outreach about VT River Cleanup Month. Together we can make 2016 VT River Cleanup a success!
