Results are in from the first round of pre-proposals submitted to the new Regional Conservation Partnership Program administered by Natural Resources Conservation Service (see our earlier announcement for details about the program). About 230 applicants nationwide were invited to submit a full proposal, due October 2.  Vermont projects are eligible for national or state level funding pools  (no "critical conservation areas" include our state).  Three Vermont projects are proposed in the national category (two of which concern water) and two in the state category (both water-focused):

  • Vermont Agencies of Agriculture, Food and Markets and Natural Resources - Accelerated Implementation of Agricultural and Forestry Conservation Practices in the Lake Champlain Watershed of Vermont and New York;
  • Ensave, Inc. - Dairy Emission, Water, and Energy Reduction Program;
  • Wildlife Management Institute - Young Forest Initiative:  Creating, Restoring and Enhancing Habitat for At-Risk Species;
  • Franklin Watershed Committee - Lake Carmi Pilot Project;
  • Vermont Association of Conservation Districts - Planning for Accelerated Conservation Implementation in the Lake Champlain Watershed of Vermont.
