NRCS Regional Conservation Partnership Program

posted May 28, 2014, 3:45 AM by Lyn Munno
Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has announced the launch of this new program established through the 2014 Farm Bill.  RCCP will fund conservation projects designed by local partners specifically for their region. Eligible partners include private companies, universities, non-profit organizations, and local governments.  35% of national funding is reserved for 8 critical conservation areas (which together cover much of the country, unfortunately excluding Vermont).  Vermont projects are eligible for the remainder of funds, however - with 40% dedicated to regional or multi-state efforts and 25% to state-level priorities. Vermont's priorities include soil erosion, soil quality, water quality, fish and wildlife habitat and energy.  See the state RCCP website for more information. Thanks to Mary E. Jacobson, NRCS Acting Public Affairs Specialist,  for this information.
